Los Angeles Airport, California by Joel Meyerowitz.
Hoi’s MarchishApril Self Improvement Project is to learn how to interpret, speak to, and criticize photography beyond just “That exposure is spot on” / “I think that’s large format?” / “Whuuut that is so rad” / “OMG love this <3”.
That said, I don’t, uh, have anything intelligent to say just yet. (I’m already on page 50, though!)
But I did want to share a new favorite photographer of mine, Joel Meyerowitz.

Almost symmetrical. But urban landscaping, that oh-so-slight lens distortion, and life in general is never so kind.

$17 for parking, aggressive security guards, and a major clusterf through and through.
Maybe it’s amazing inside. Maybe people just really enjoy lining up for the tram. Maybe we shouldn’t have left early for ramen. (Actually no, we should’ve.)

I’ve always wondered: when they say it’s 99 cents, is that before or after tax? Could I actually walk in there with a dollar bill, buy one thing, and get a penny in change?
Because $0.99 + 8.75% tax for Los Angeles county = $1.07 (or $1.08, if you round up).
And these things matter when you’re shopping on a 99 cent budget.
